Chasing the Season
Time is absolutely, most definitely not a gardeners friend, forever catching up, forever chasing the current season. If like me you are in pursuit of a tick against just one item off the list then you understand my point of view.
One day it will fit into place, others it simply does not.
This makes me wonder, is it this movement that makes us do what we do. Do we need time constraints? Is a short lived moment so contagious that we rip it from it’s clutches and live within it? Or is it the crushing lack of time to complete the task at hand before the sun retreats behind the horizon… Is this anxiety or is this an exhilarating thrill?
Where would we be without Mother Nature handing out her rule book like an excel document with deadlines. Hearing her whispers cocoon my thoughts while I go about my business in the plot. Metaphorically replying to the attachment on email, what was delivered ahead of schedule and what needs an extension.
I need all of the above, this pushes me through. This defines me, this guides me of when, how and who. I simply wouldn’t get anything done if I was to have that thought that lingers… you have tomorrow, you have a week, you have a month.
And of course…
The abundance of flowers to come is the best motivator of all.
